Hello,
I have an odd problem that I am not sure how to fix.
I am converting some e-books to EPUB format so they
can be read on a small Android tablet.
When the books are converted, using Calibre, from my local Ubuntu
library they look just fine using the e-book reader in Calibre
and also using lrf-viewer alone.
The problem appears when the books are opened in Android using
'ereader' or 'coolreader'. Anything with underlining or containing
mark-up characters comes up with blobs of gobbeldy-gook characters
mixed into the text.
The books are being converted using UTF-8 as the output
and all underlining looks just fine in Ubuntu.
I am not fully acquainted with Android in all it's forms
so I am unsure if there is an OS mod or something that should fix
the issue. I looked to see what settings Android is running under
and they also appear to be UTF-8.
Does anyone have any experience mitigating e-book junk characters
on Android?
Thanks
Peter
