Make sure your kernel modules are loaded properly.

What kind of hardware are you using? Does it support VT-x (Intel) or AMD-V 
(AMD also calls this SVM). Also enable nested paging if your hardware 
supports it. If your hardware doesn't support these features VBox will 
emulate in software which is ten times slower than in hardware.
