[Discuss] bad hd super block

Actually, I should be more careful with my terminology. There were no 
"bad blocks" only "bad superblocks" and fsck "fixed" not bad blocks but 
the check sums which I understand are "meta data" stored in the 
superblocks. So I should have said that there were hundreds of 
"checksums" that were bad. That's the limit of my very limited 
understanding of what the heck was causing my problems. The question 
remains however, as to what caused the data to become corrupted and mess 
up all the checksums. The only possible thing I could think off was that 
I was running ffmpeg on a bunch of video files converting them from avi 
to mp4 and also moving stuff around in my video library. The partitions 
that was affected contained only video files. Is it possible if it was 
just one or two bad superblocks for the system to have to rebuiild all 
the hundreds of checksums?
