[Discuss] Permissions needed to open USB driver file on CD-ROM

Hi guys

Maybe someone can straighten me out. I'm stumped right now. I just got 
an USB -> HDMI converter so I can use a Sony 32" TV as my principal 
monitor. Problem is that there is a disk of drivers for the electronics; 
the disk is read-only, and I can't figure out how to get permissions to 
run the software. I know, I know, John taught us several years ago how 
to change your permissions; but I've forgotten, and this involves more 
software than just the files in my HD. Please someone; tell me how to 
get past this paranoid guard!
