Your link is more straightforward than the instructions on the one I 
used, but in fact they are both the same.  I  was satisfied with the 60 
fps I was getting under 12.04, but delighted with the 150-190 rates I am 
now getting under Gnome Flashback with Ubuntu 14.04.  I am really 
surprised by the slowness when running using KDE on the same 
installation, same hardware, same version of ffmpeg!
