[Discuss] malware cleaner for Linux? Any ideas which one and how to use?

Maybe it's me that is confused but I fail to understand how, assuming 
the bad guys had your email password (not your computer password), that 
that would allow them special access to send YOU junk mail or why you 
now need to "clean" anything from your computer. Your email password 
only allows you to send and receive mail through your Shaw email 
address. It does not allow access to your computer.

My guess, from what you have told us, is that as Patrick suggested they 
got your EMAIL password that enabled them to use your account to send 
junk mail out to others under your name and because of the great volume 
that was sent through your account, Shaw decided to lock it. Re-setting 
your password would fix that problem.

I can't see how you could possibly get any more than normal junk mail 
unless the bad guys also dumped junk mail into your in-coming email 
stream for you to download. Its possible that the Shaw junk mail filters 
were affected allowing you to get more junk. Anti-virus checking will 
not help with any of this! There is probably nothing on your computer 
except the extra junk mail and if you deleted it there will be no 
residual affects.
