Yes, that is not the problem. I have video, it is just that the resolution is so low. With sysinfo, it does see the amd video chipset, but somehow the driver is not working properly.

Without boring you with a long, similar story - I'd check that the monitor cable is connected firmly.

Subject: [Discuss] Kubuntu == display quit working

I really hate it when this happens (which does so every once in a while)! After the last reboot, my display came up in very low resolution. It looks as if it is no longer properly detecting my video card/monitor, or the drivers have gotten clobbered. I tried to switch drivers, after which it doesn't work at all!

Now when I reboot, the monitor says:
   DSUB
 OUT OF RANGE
  75.6KHz - 60Hz

I can boot into recovery mode and check disks, etc. (it says everything is OK), and can get into console mode but I don't know what to do next to repair the display system.
I tried a live DVD of Kubuntu 15.10, and the resolution is bad there as well.

There does not seem to be much point in doing a fresh install if the live DVD doesn't work properly! Is there anything I should check in the EFI/BIOS? There is not much room for an external video card if there is something wrong with the on-board video. Perhaps I could try installing a different driver, but would not know what to look for.
Any suggestions would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Murray
