And getting what in its place?

Don't read too much into Shaw's 5Mbps costing $60/month. Their "normal" service
is 75Mbps at $80/month, which is 25 times as fast for only 1/3 more. Really,
their 5Mbps service only exists for people who want the cheapest possible
option, and their 15Mbps ($70/month) is the middle ground. But the pricing
plans are geared to encourage the Internet 75 as the best deal for
month-to-month service.

I don't think it was ever that cheap, not even close.

For reference, I used the Internet Archive to look back exactly 10 years (2007
Oct 1). At that time, Shaw's internet offerings were:

* 0.25Mbps/0.13Mbps - High Speed Lite - $29.95/month standalone
* 5Mbps/0.5Mbps - High Speed - $40.95/month standalone
* 10Mbps/1Mbps - High Speed Extreme - $50.95/month standalone
* 25Mbps/1Mbps - High Speed Nitro - $101.95/month standalone

So, in a 10 year period, their 5Mbps service went up 46% ($19), their 10Mbps
went up 39% ($19) and got faster (15Mbps), and their faster speeds became less
expensive.

Do you still think there was some other time it was priced like you said?
