[Discuss] USB devices disconnecting in XUbuntu

Since doing a fresh install of XUbuntu 22.04 (and adding new SSD hard drive and replacing one that failed) I have been having a problem of my keyboard and buttons on my mouse disconnecting. I found this post on Ask Ubuntu:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1263675/how-do-i-stop-my-screen-from-constantly-locking-up-in-focal
I found this: How do I stop my screen from constantly locking up in Focal? which basically says to disable screen saver and power management from starting up in "Sessions and Start Up". I thought it was working for a while, but then it quit again. In my syslog, I find lots of entries like: "Desktop acpid: input device has been disconnected" I seem to remember having a problem like this a long time ago but don't remember how I fixed it. I can move the mouse, but clicking on anything does not work, and there is no response from the keyboard. SSH shows that things are still running OK. To reboot, I must either press and hold the power button or do "sudo reboot" on another computer using SSH.

Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Thanks,
Murray
