I have been unable to find a suitable video editor in LINUX that can do what I want easily. Kdenlive is too difficult to use. Cinelerra can do it, but it's way more work. There is an open source program that is supposed to be OK but it needs an NVIDIA GPU, which I don't have. It is too clunky on the iMac.
