I have fired up Google Chrome and it is still working. I will wait until tomorrow morning and if all is well, I will try Firefox again. Maybe all it took was to remove the error and to make sure that the screen saver was disabled. I am not sure if it is significant, but whenever I rebooted, I got a message saying something had crashed on the system. When I did further investigation, it was gdebi which had done so. I had used it to install Google Chrome. I removed that entry. The only thing I had installed using gdebi was Google Chrome since it would not install using the default software installer (said it was not compatible). After it "hung" this morning and I rebooted, I deleted the crash report and have not used Google Chrome on it for the rest of the day. So far, it is still working OK. I will try overnight without using Google Chrome or Firefox to see if it keeps working. If it does, I will try starting them again tomorrow one at a time. If it crashes after I start Chrome, I will remove it and perhaps install Chromium instead. I have not had trouble with Chrome in the past, and it works fine on the laptop LINUX installs.
