http://askubuntu.com/questions/232998/how-do-i-install-smbmount
tells us that:
|smbmount| has been deprecated in favor of |mount.cifs|. I want to say
"since at least 2008" but I can't find a reference.
Here's the accompanying manpage
<http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/precise/en/man8/smbmount.8.html>.
You would use these parameters instead:
| sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.0.100/ samba/ -o rw
|
You might also need to install the cifs-utils Install cifs-utils
<https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/cifs-utils> package.

cifs-utils is already installed on my mint system.
