[Discuss] UbuntuOne alternatives

[Murray Strome]

At the last BB&C LINUX SIG meeting, Google Drive was suggested as a good
alternative to UbuntuOne. It has lots of storage, but is uploading to it
ever SLOW!

It took about fifteen hours to upload my UbuntuOne files to it!
However, downloading to other computers seems to be much faster.

The slow upload speed has been reported by many users. DropBox is
certainly MUCH neater, cleaner and faster, but only has 2G standard,
whereas Google Drive free default has 15G (but this includes all GMail
messages and photos over 2048X2048). Although I have not dealt with this
yet, there seems to be a problem with Google Drive keeping all previous
versions of files (up to at least 100). While this might be great for
long-term backup, it can easily eat up your space in a short time. Some
have suggested that this is deliberate on Google's part as a strategy to
get you to purchase additional space.

Canonical has just announced that they are closing down
	UbuntuOne:
http://voices.canonical.com/ubuntuone/2014/04/02/shutting-down-ubuntu-one-file-services/

I have found this to be a MOST useful service and am very sorry
to see that it will be disappearing.

I wonder what similar free services other people have found to
	be as useful.
