As discussed at previous SIG meetings, I will be bringing an old PC
with some new HDs (I plan to include an old, small IDE Drive for any
installation). I plan to install four 3TB 7200rpm SATA drives, but will
not do any formatting of them. I have installed Fedora LXDE on a small
IDE hard drive. I only have 2G RAM and a 16G IDE HD with the Fedora
installation. Although the CD/DVD reader/writer is supposed to be DVD
and CD capable, I was only able to load Live-CDs and installation CDs
(not DVDs). IU will bring a small monitor, keyboard and mouse as well as
an Ethernet cable.
I chose the Fedora LXDE because of the many small installations that I
tried, this is the only one that seemed to work.
The idea is to build a network disk array for backup, or whatever. Cy
suggested that he would help with this. If I need anything else in
advance, I am hoping that Cy will let me know.
