[Discuss] Does anyone have a use for a very small HD?

Here is what you should do with them
Find some good torx screw driver and open the disk. The goods inside are
1. 3-4 magnetic surface disks that are metal but look like slightly
darkened mirrors. They work wonderfully as a geek's coaster.
2. Extremely high quality aluminum spacer rings. I made them into earrings
for the girlfriend (she's a software dev.). Nobody else even comes close to
having something similar.
3. A pair of rare earth magnets that are horrifyingly strong. Use them for
paper clips or pins, on the fridge etc. Take care because they are somewhat
fragile compared to how strong they are. i.e. if you let them snap into
each other at a distance they will break. They also work really well when
stuck to the shaft of a screwdriver to give it a "real" magnetic tip.
Another cool thing is that those lovely magnets have a piece of metal they
are glued to which somehow "shields" the magnetic field. i.e. they will
stick to metals directly, but if you flip them around, that shield will
make them behave like a rusty nail. Cool to show off.
4. On the PCB you can normally find a few cool looking chip that you can
make into pendants by soldering a tiny loop to their legs. Kinda like this

I also made one of those for the girlfriend and she wears it all the time.

I'm suggesting this coz the ~1-2GB disks are not worth the hassle of using
them when you can get a $3 USB flash of the same capacity, 1/100 of the
size and the power and 100 times the reliability.
