[Discuss] "Upgrading" Ubuntu - showing workspaces on taskbar

perhaps there is more than one workspace switcher, too?

if you right click on the switcher and choose properties, you may have 
some extra options.
otherwise, right click on the panel and choose to add a new item to the 
panel - see if there is another workspace switcher applet that you could 
use.

i'm using xubuntu/xfce, so i can't try to see what the options are 
personally.
