Hi All -- Thanks for the input, particularly the link to Linux from Scratch, that looks really helpful. I'm beginning to think that my first "out of the box" distro should be Debian. Am I right in thinking that this is a relatively easy installation for a first-timer and yet puts me near the center of mass of the Linux world? Regards, -- Bernie.
