I made what seemed to be a reasonable assumption backed by data.

I am on many mailing lists, and all of the others which had sent the monthly 
reminder emails had since stopped doing so years ago.

This demonstrated that a majority of people in the wider world felt that this 
was a good change.

And so I made that proposal here because I felt it would be beneficial to us as 
a group as many others had declared.

I would also say you have just as much presumption as I do if you're speaking 
for other list members that they would want the default list action to send 
these emails.

There is nothing wrong with my making the proposal.  If people don't agree 
that's fine, but my having said it is not wrong.
