KDE policy seems to be that each new major version of KDE is actually a
completely separate product from the previous major version, not really a
"version" at all.  KDE4 was claimed to be something new, not a version of
the same thing as KDE3, and KDE5 would be something new, not a version of
the same thing as KDE4.  That is why bug number 158556, which I think is a
regression (it worked before, it doesn't work anymore) is to this day
classified instead as a "wishlist item."

I'd say KDE5 is worth looking at if and only if it has abandoned the
"Semantic Desktop" concept of KDE4, but I doubt we'll be so lucky.
