We have Telus WiFi router and just use WPA,etc.. Not sure why you would 
use infrastructure mode. Just alter your router settings to use SSID and 
a key(s). Works here with linux. Kubuntu 15~ish .

Thanks for the reply. It works fine with the Live CD of 15.04 (Infrastructure is one of the mode options and it is the default so connection occurs correctly and automatically in that version). It does NOT work in the installed 16.04 nor the Live CD version of 16.04. It appears that there has been change in the WiFi setup between 15 and 16. Some people have had luck with other ISPs using the client mode (default in 16.04), but no luck here.  I have not had any problem anyplace else during my travels nor at home, but they were not TELUS networks.

I would not know how to change the router settings to SSID and since it is not mine, I am a bit reluctant to fool around with it in case I make a mess of it before I leave here.
