[Discuss] Software Programmer Contract Position

Hi all,

I have a friend how has a small tech company which develops field data
collection devices/software. He is looking for another developer to help
him out on a contract basis.

Thought you might be able to provide some direction in my search for a
programmer for a 4-6 month project.

As you know we have some field data collection applications that were/are
developed/maintained for Windows CE devices.
We are going to port these applications to Windows 10 devices, and want to
make maximal use of the existing code which is basically C# front end with
GPCP (Component Pascal) back end.

I have a firm who is currently maintaining the apps for WinCE (AOT
Technologies), and the programmer doing the work is great.  However, our
project is too small to allocate more than a few hours of his time a month,
and he mostly works on some government multi-year projects, which is as it
should be for AOT.

So, we are trying to figure out how to hire another programmer who can work
full time for say 4-6 months under AOT's direction but be cost effective
for us.  I've resolved this down to 2 approaches.  Either fund a co-op term
project, or go offshore (India probably).  The latter worries me, as an
offshore resource is hard to manage productively without face-to-face
conversation.
